Well, as I have written before, this business continues to amaze me.
A couple of months ago I told you about a commercial casting for ‘Sharwoods'. I'd totally forgotten about it as I'd heard nothing for many weeks after the casting.
I got a call from my agent a few weeks ago saying Sharwoods were still interested in me and I'd been penciled for the job (shortlisted). It's always difficult with pencils, as you never know how many other actors have been placed on the list. Filming was due to start on the 11th April but I wasn't available, due to other commitments, Sharwoods responded to this by saying they could move the dates if it would suit, it was decided filming would be postponed until May 9th and that I was still on pencil for this new date.
Guess what? After all that hassle, I was told a few days ago that the pencil was off and they'd gone with another actor – unbelievable eh, talk about “hanging on a string”!!!!
Work is really quiet at the moment, I hooked up with some actor friends recently and it looks like a lot of actors are in the same boat, too many actors chasing too few jobs. I don't know if it will ever get back to the halcyon days of the late 90's – but I doubt it.
As I write this however, something IS afoot, but its top secret, I can't say anything until the contract has been signed, I've made that mistake before and looked extremely stupid when the “cast iron” job didn't materialize – watch this space, if anything happens over the coming weeks, I will update this entry with all the details!
Well, the football season is now over and the lads finished an average “middle of the table” position, I went to the Walkers stadium to watch the final game of the season against Leicester, and wished I hadn't bothered, we were awful and not worth the admission price.
I still renewed my season ticket though!
I was cleaning out the garage the other day trying to find my daughters keyboard ( I didn't find the keyboard ) and found a whole host of other stuff that I'd totally forgotten about, I then spent ages looking at old photos. It's amazing isn't it, how memories come flooding back when you look at old photos, it actually brought a tear to my eye, remembering people I've lost touch with, people who have died or now grown up, pictures are a powerful thing!
The weather has been glorious and we've already had a BBQ and our first visit of the year to Alton Towers. I'm lucky enough to own a Merlin pass which gives me unlimited entry to A.T, Chessington, Lego land, Thorpe park, London dungeons, Madame Tussauds, Sea life centre's, Warwick castle and the London Eye, it is an absolute godsend to own and gives you fast track entry, free drinks, discounts on merchandise and a whole host more, now all I need is my black “Nandos” card and I will be sorted.
Well, I'm off to the dentist now for my quarterly check up, I'm absolutely petrified of going, even though I'm lucky enough to have private care and have a dentist who is so re assuring, it still doesn't stop the nerves – I think it must stem from my boarding school days where I had an awful little man look after my teeth – he used to put his knees on my chest to examine me and I think it scarred me for life!
Anyway, until next time, take special care.
