It's been a mad few weeks with one thing or another and it's frightening to think, we're into March and I'm writing the February diary/blog entry.
Firstly, huge congratulations to my dear friend Sean McKenzie who has landed himself a fabulous part in a 2 hander called “The lady in the van”.
Sean plays Alan Bennett, the playwright, alongside a wonderful actress who I worked with many years ago – Nicola McAuliffe. Go and see the show, it's touring to a theatre near you.
Wow, what a blast, everyone on the “Midnight Hop” had a fantastic time and I was part of it. Not only was I reunited with the fabulous Tessa Walker, I made my first acquaintance with Birmingham Rep and a company of fabulous actors, which made my job so much easier.
I played a number of characters in a workshop capacity and had so much fun with the script and music.
Huge thanks must go out to the cast and production team but also to Soweto Kinch for the script, music and history.
I've had many emails asking if I'm giving up the profession to teach. The answer is no, I just want to add as many strings to my bow as possible.
The course is going really well, I'm about to do my micro-teach and hand in the last of many assessments. It's been a hard, intense course but I would recommend it to anyone who has aspirations in this field.
It's time to sign off, I'm looking forward to an imminent holiday and there are also a couple of things on the back burner that could come to fruition very soon.
Keep logging in for any stop presses and be aware my twitter name has changed to @johnburtons.
Be good and speak soon.
