December 2017

Hi Guys

2017 is drawing to a close and I haven’t kept the website up to date as I should have and wanted to, so, I've decided that in 2018 I will only post an entry twice a year, in June and December.

This way, I can give you six months of what's happened rather than doing it month by month, when there may not be anything to share.

As you will know the second Father Brown Christmas special has just been shown on the TV (the first was shown last year and repeated after this years version) so if you’ve seen it you will have had a good laugh at Mallory and Goodfellow as the ugly sisters, it was a hoot to film and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We filmed the whole new series over the summer in The Cotswolds and there are some real crackers for you to enjoy in 2018, 9 brand new episodes broadcast from January 2nd, 2018 with some touching moments, things that will make you laugh and some that will have you on the edge of your seat and if you missed this years Christmas special The Tree of Truth, you can catch it on iPlayer for a couple of weeks still.

In the last few months I was also fortunate to be offered a guest lead on Doctors again, playing a different character to the last one I played a couple of years ago, it is a very emotional episode that will be shown in March, so I hope you enjoy it, I've also just finished a little project about the Birmingham Suffragettes which was fun to do and really informative about how the movement started

As Christmas rapidly approaches I am really looking forward to a few weeks off where I can kick back and chill out, both here in the UK and abroad when I fly out for a well-earned holiday.

Thanks for reading the ad hoc entries this year and may I take this opportunity to wish all of you a fantastic Christmas and a wonderful 2018.

Much love

John xx

April 2017

Hi Guys

I hope this entry finds you well and for all you Father Brown fans out there, I hope you loved all 15 episodes of the new series, which unbelievably was series number 5!

This time around and for the very first time ever we shot a Christmas special which came with fake snow, an ox, an ass and lots of other great stuff.

I remember shooting that episode very well, it was the hottest day of the year and I had to pretend to be cold complete with hat, gloves, scarf and thick overcoat whilst I was sweating profusely from the heat!

The character I play (the lovely Sgt Goodfellow) got a bit more screen time this year and as an actor I was delighted to receive a title credit for the first time on Father Brown, which was great.

We had such fun shooting the episodes throughout the summer months and the scripts were really good, so it made going to work a whole lot easier knowing you had great storylines, lovely locations and a fantastic cast and crew to spend the day with – it was just wonderful and it's an absolute honour to be part of.

I've had some time off since I finished so I'm raring to get going again ASAP, I can reveal there will be an announcement about my next project very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for it, I will probably announce it on my twitter feed, so if you don't follow me, you need to – or else you won't know!

I have a big birthday celebration this year and I'm really looking forward to it, my family have planned some great things for me which include afternoon tea at The Shard, cocktails at The Connaught Hotel, a 3 night stay at Malmaison and dinner at The Ivy amongst other things – how exciting!

I'm also very lucky to have some nice mini breaks abroad already in the diary, so in between working furiously, I'll also be able to kick back and relax throughout the year which is always a HUGE bonus.

Well, I'm going to sign off now, but keep your eyes peeled for that announcement, I'm hoping I can release it fairly soon.

Until next time, take special care.

John xx
